Welcome to the Counselor's Corner: Supporting the Whole Child!
At RGDA, our School Counseling program is here to ensure that every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn. We focus on the social, emotional, and academic development of our students, helping them navigate the ups and downs of growing up with confidence and resilience.
What We Do
The counselor is a resource for everyone in the school community—students, parents, and teachers alike. Our work generally falls into three main categories:
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): We visit classrooms to teach lessons on important life skills like empathy, bullying prevention, growth mindset, and how to manage "big emotions."
Small-Group Counseling: Sometimes students benefit from talking with peers who are going through similar experiences. We host small groups focused on topics like friendship skills, changing families (divorce/grief), and anxiety management.
Individual Support: Students can visit the counselor for a safe space to talk through a specific problem, resolve a conflict with a friend, or just take a "reset" breath when they are feeling overwhelmed.
