Library Programs
Battle of the Books
Put your reading comprehension to the ultimate test! Battle of the Books is a competitive reading program where students read and discuss four preselected titles chosen by a Region One ESC librarian committee. Guided by teacher sponsors, students meet throughout the year to dive deep into these texts in preparation for the regional showdown.
Our district hosts four divisions to ensure every student can participate:
Junior: Grades K–2
Elementary: Grades 3–5
Middle School: Grades 6–8
High School: Grades 9–12
Following months of preparation and discussion, four students from each division are selected to represent our district at the regional competition in February, where they compete against teams from across the area to showcase their literary expertise.

Little Free Library
Our commitment to literacy extends beyond the classroom and into our community! We are proud to host a Little Free Library station located right outside the elementary campus.
This "take a book, share a book" exchange is open to everyone—students, families, and neighbors—24/7. Whether it’s over the weekend or during summer break, we invite you to stop by, grab a new favorite, or leave a book for someone else to enjoy.

Book Fairs
Get ready to grow your home library! We host two major book fairs each year—one in the Fall and one in Spring. While the fairs are hosted at the elementary campus, we warmly invite our middle school students to come over and shop the latest titles, graphic novels, and bestsellers.
Author Visits
There is nothing quite like meeting the person behind the pages! To inspire our next generation of writers and thinkers, our district libraries attempt to host at least one author visit for every campus each year.
Whether these sessions are in-person or virtual, students get a front-row seat to the creative process. These visits offer a unique opportunity to engage with professional storytellers, ask questions about the craft of writing, and discover the power of literacy in a real-world context.
Last week of October & first week of March.
